Travel Clinic

Unfortunately, due to increasing pressure on our appointment system and to free up nursing capacity, we have taken the decision to

withdraw our Travel Clinic service.

Although we are withdrawing our service, you are still entitled to receive certain vaccinations for travel which are available under the NHS. We will continue to provide prescriptions for these vaccinations and offer you an appointment to have these administered at the practice.

Please see below for details and further instructions.

The travel vaccinations provided free of charge on the NHS are:

Tetanus, diphtheria and polio as given in the combined Td/IPV vaccine (Revaxis)

Hepatitis A - first and booster doses

Combined hepatitis A and B - two doses with a third for over 16s

Typhoid - first and booster doses

Combined hepatitis A and typhoid - first and booster doses

If you are planning to travel abroad and require travel advice, we would advise you to contact a local travel clinic to arrange an appointment at least eight weeks in advance of travel. There are a variety of private travel clinics which provide such advice e.g. some larger pharmacies.  Unfortunately we are unable to direct you to a specific private travel clinic. Please note there may be a charge involved when attending these clinics.

We are happy to provide you with a copy of your vaccinations on request to take to your travel clinic appointment.

Upon attending a travel clinic, if any NHS vaccination (noted above) is required, you should request a copy of your travel consultation and bring this to our Practice with a view to requesting a prescription for the vaccination. We will forward your consultation to a doctor or nurse who will check your medical records and arrange issue of a prescription (if required).  A member of our reception team will then contact you to advise you whether a prescription has been generated, where to collect the prescription, and arrange an appointment for you with our practice nurse to have the vaccination administered. Please bring vaccines straight to the surgery after collection.

It is extremely important that you request, and provide us with, a copy of you travel consultation otherwise we may not be able to administer the vaccinations.
