It is usual to offer you an appointment with a healthcare professional
within 48 hours. If you specify a particular practitioner, then
you may have to wait longer for the appointment. Children under
the age of 12 and those patients with a problem of an urgent nature
will be seen the same day, if necessary.
The first hour of the morning can be extremely busy. Please keep
telephone calls brief. If possible, leave routine calls till later
in the day.

EMERGENCIES
These will be dealt with immediately at all times. In life-threatening
emergencies such as severe bleeding, collapse, unconsciousness and
severe chest pains, telephone 999 for an ambulance.

you will be given the number for NHS 24 or you may call NHS 24 directly
on 08454 24 24 24.

HOME VISITS
Home visits are daily, by request with emergency visits made by
the doctor on call.
OUT OF HOURS
Please phone 08454 24 24 24 if you wish to contact the emergency
services between 6pm and 8am. The duty nurse may give telephone
advice or you may be asked to visit the emergency consulting centre,
which is based in Wallacetown Health Centre, Lyon Street,
Dundee. A home visit may be arranged if clinically indicated.
REGISTRATION OF NEW PATIENTS
We accept new patients wishing to join the practice. All new patients
are required to attend new patient registration with the practice
nurse and doctor before registration can be confirmed. We do not
discriminate on grounds of race, gender, social class, age, religion,
sexual orientation or appearance, disability or medical condition.
HOUSE VISITS
If you require a house visit, please telephone the surgery before
10 am if possible. The receptionist will ask for some details of
the problem to help the doctor assess the degree of urgency.
HOW TO CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR / PRACTICE NURSE
All consultations are by appointment, which can be made in person,
or by telephone between 8.00am and 6.00pm. Where possible the appointment
will be with your own doctor. Patients who need to be seen urgently
may be seen at the end of surgery. Alternatively a telephone consultation
may be arranged with a health care professional.
Messages left for doctor – will be dealt with in non-consulting
time. If the message is urgent the receptionist will interrupt the
GP’s consultation.

Certain services provided by your doctor are not covered by the
NHS and you will be asked to pay a fee.

MINOR AILMENTS
You can get advice and treatment for minor ailments from
your pharmacist without having to attend the GP surgery. If you
are exempt from prescription charges the pharmacist may be to provide
treatment free of charge.
CHANGE OF NAME OR ADDRESS
Please notify us of any changes in your personal details. This will
allow us to keep our records up-to-date and to notify the Common
Services Agency.
